Augusta took 2-inch hail on its north end on August 7, 2026. Roof Dr inspects and replaces roofs across Augusta, from century-old homes to new construction.
Augusta sits where the Walnut and Whitewater Rivers meet, east of Wichita on US-54/400. It was founded in 1868 and named for Augusta James, wife of founder C.N. James. Oil found near town in 1914 doubled the population between 1910 and 1920, and refineries like White Eagle followed. A lot of Augusta's older housing dates to that boom, and those homes need a different approach than a 2005 subdivision house.
Homes from the 1910s and 1920s often have steeper roofs, board decking instead of plywood, and more than one layer of old shingles stacked up over the decades. We strip to the deck, replace boards that are rotted or split, and add sheathing where needed so the new shingles have a solid base. We'll tell you what we find before we price the job, not after tear-off.
Storm reports show 2-inch hail on the north end of Augusta on August 7, 2026, one of 10 hail reports within 10 miles of town this year. Hail that size can crack shingles outright and dent gutters, vents and siding. If you're on the north side and haven't had an inspection since August, now is the time, before your insurer's filing window closes.
Augusta is a short drive from our Wichita-area base, so we can usually get an inspector to you within 24 hours of your call and tarp an active leak the same day.

Look for dents in gutters, downspouts and metal vents, or spatter marks on siding and fences. Those are signs the hail was big enough to damage shingles. A free inspection will confirm it.
Rotted decking found during tear-off can be submitted to your insurer as a supplement, and some policies include code-upgrade coverage. We document it with photos so your adjuster can review it.
